Request Course Shells

Now accepting summer and fall 2013 course shell requests.

Deadlines: Summer courses requested after May 6, 2013 and fall courses requested after August 5, 2013, are NOT guaranteed to be ready by the first day of class.

A course shell request is required by all faculty who choose to use Pearson LearningStudio.

Step 1: Request Shell

1. Faculty* will go to http://www.my.tcu.edu to make requests. A new, blank course shell will be created as a result of this request.

Use the HOW TO INSTRUCTIONS to walk you through the new process.

*Only faculty assigned to a course may make the request. Please use Class Search for class information and to confirm your assignment. If you find that you are not assigned to your course, please contact your department.

Step 2: Wait for Enrollment Email

2. Once requested, Koehler Center staff will process the request and enroll professors and teaching assistants. new

Beginning summer 2013, faculty enrollments and student enrollments will process at the same time via an automated process. Once enrolled, an email will be sent to faculty members notifying them the enrollment has processed. TA enrollments are still a manual process, so there will be a slight delay for processing.

Note: Even though students will be enrolled early into the course shells, they will not have access until 12:01 am on the first day of class.

Step 3: Copy Content

3. You will be notified via email when your course shell(s) are ready. If you previously had a Pearson LearningStudio course shell, you can use the Faculty Copy Tool to copy all or part of any existing course content into your new course shell.

Team Teaching and Faculty Copy Tool:
If you are part of a teaching team and plan to copy your shell from a previous semester, this must be done before anyone on the team adds any content, web links, announcements, etc. to the course shell. Full content copies can only be made into blank shells. Of course, once your full course copy has been done, you can add/edit content as you see fit.

About this new process:We are in phase 4 of our course request automation project.

Phase 1: All faculty must use the elearning course request form to make course requests (COMPLETE)

Phase 2: All faculty who wish to copy content must use the faculty copy tool (COMPLETE)

Phase 3: All faculty will request courses using the Course Request page in my.tcu.edu (COMPLETE)

Phase 4: Faculty enrollments will be loaded via automated file processes, with student enrollments. Student enrollments will process when the course is created, eliminating the need for a mass load prior to the semester start. Students will still be unable to access the courses until 12:01am on the first day of classes though.
